Thailand Weather – Pattaya
Pattaya is a resort city in Thailand. It is located on the east coast of the Gulf of Thailand, about 100 kilometres southeast of Bangkok, in the province of Chonburi. Pattaya has tropical climate or Aw under the Koppen-Geiger classification system and gets less rainfall during the winter months. It has an average annual temperature of 28.3 degrees Celsius (83 degrees Fahrenheit) and average rainfall and precipitation of 1,241 mm.
The city gets its lowest minimum temperature of 21.8 degrees Celsius (71.2 degrees Fahrenheit) in January and the highest maximum temperature of 34 degrees Celsius (93.2 degrees Fahrenheit) during the month of April. Thailand is divided into three seasons: the rainy or southwest monsoon season from mid-May to mid-October, which most of the country experiences and with August and September being the wettest months. Dry spells also occur 1 to 2 weeks from June to early July. The winter or northeast monsoon starts from mid-October to mid-February and most of the country experiences dry weather during this season with mild temperatures. On the other hand, the southern parts experience abundant rainfall during this time, especially in the months of October to November. Summer or the pre-monsoon season runs from mid-February to mid-May, which is characterised by warmer weather.
Just like most of the country, Pattaya experiences three seasons: summer, wet, and winter.
Summer season: Pattaya experiences it’s summer season during the months of March and April, getting around 47 to 70 mm of rainfall and precipitation. Minimum temperatures during this time range from 25.3 degrees Celsius (77.5 degrees Fahrenheit) to 26.4 degrees Celsius (79.5 degrees Fahrenheit), while maximum temperatures range from 33 degrees Celsius (91.4 degrees Fahrenheit) to 34 degrees Celsius (93.2 degrees Fahrenheit).
Wet season: Pattaya’s rainy season is during the months of May to October when the city gets 87 to 255 mm of rainfall and precipitation, with October considered as the wettest month. During this time, minimum temperatures can range from 24.1 degrees Celsius (75.4 degrees Fahrenheit) to 26.4 degrees Celsius (79.5 degrees Fahrenheit, while maximum temperatures range from 31.1 degrees Celsius (88 degrees Fahrenheit) to 32.8 degrees Celsius (91 degrees Fahrenheit).
Winter season: Pattaya experiences its winter season during the months of November to February, which is also considered the city’s driest months of the year, getting around 12 to 82 mm of rainfall and precipitation, with December considered as the driest month. Minimum temperatures range from 21.8 degrees Celsius (71.2 degrees Fahrenheit) to 24 degrees Celsius (75.2 degrees Fahrenheit), while maximum temperatures range from 31.1 degrees Celsius (88 degrees Fahrenheit) to 32.2 degrees Celsius (90 degrees Fahrenheit).
Best time to Go
Pattaya can be considered an all-year-round destination: peak tourist months are during the winter months of November to February as guests are sure to enjoy all the beaches and attraction thanks to the good weather. The summer months of March to April can still be considered a good season to visit. While the monsoon months of May to October are best for guests who want to enjoy Pattaya quietly — when the beaches are not crowded and temperatures are not that high.
