Ben Dinh Tunnels
Though some tourists feel that Ben Dinh Tunnels -- the most visited section in the complex network known as Cu Chi Tunnels -- is too claustrophobic for comfort, this tourist attraction offers an important insight on the resilience of Vietnamese war soldiers.
Tours to Ben Dinh Tunnels allow tourists to experience what it was like to travel underground — visitors get to see the original tunnels, and crouch through the narrow (80 cm by 10 m) tunnels that have been resized to cater to tourists. Outside, tourists will find replica booby traps, weapons used during the war, vintage war equipment, a nursery, and some barracks. If you’re planning to visit the tunnel, know that it won’t be easy — it could get really hot and humid inside — but it’s a great way to experience what Vietnamese soldiers went through to win the war.
