Anek Kuson Sala (Viharnra Sien)
Viharnra Sien or Anek Kuson Sala is a magnificent Chinese temple-slash-museum that can be found it the south of Pattaya. It is a three-storey building that was built in an elegant Chinese style, an iconic attraction built for the King’s 60th Birthday.
Considered as one of the most important art galleries in Thailand, stunning and valuable collections of art are housed in here. At the entrance, you can find a number of Chinese mythology figures and one of the highlights is two statues of big Peking lions. While inside the museum, you can also find a collection of Chinese pottery from several dynasties, one of which is at least 3000 years old from the Shang Dynasty. There are also 18 Chinese monk statues displaying different martial art forms. Eight handmade terracotta arhats – in honour of Buddha’s followers who have reached a high stage of Enlightenment – command attention from tourists. Apart from the figures, the museum also has granite carvings, paintings, jade carvings among others.
A trip here can also serve as a breather from all the temples you’ve visited during your trip as it may be quite different than the others.
