Just north of the city centre is the Capitol University, a famous landmark that houses one of the most historically significant attractions in Cagayan de Oro — the Museum of Three Cultures. Albeit small, the museum has a comprehensive and informative collection — the museum is divided into three galleries that hold items significant to Mindanao, Cagayan de Oro, and Marawi. Each gallery contains photos, ceramics, and artifacts that include the royal family’s four-poster bed, M’ranao ceremonial swords, and paintings depicting life and culture of these major provinces. A tour of the entire museum is conducted by friendly and knowledgeable students who always have a trivia or two to share.

The museum is open on weekdays from 9:00 to 12:00, and from 13:30 to 17:30. It opens at noon only on Saturday.
