Mandalay Marionettes Theater
Mandalay Marionettes Theatre is where the puppeteers gather to make sure that the traditional puppetry of Myanmar will live on. Professional artists actively showcase the beauty of Myanmar puppetry to the new generation and to its visitors.
The art of puppet performances not only entertained royalties — it became a way to make people aware of current events, literature, history, religion, lifestyle, and customs.
To save the dying art of marionettes, arrangements to establish a special marionettes theatre in Mandalay were done. Today, old and young puppeteers gather here in an effort to entertain the new generation of visitors with marionettes.
