Suggested For
Sekayu Recreational Forest suits couples who are adventurous and is a great spot for outings with a group of friends. This attraction may not be suitable for families with young kids and seniors since hiking is required and could be rather strenuous.
Time to Spend
Visitors tend to spend about half a day at the site.
Popularity and Best Time to Go
Sekayu Recreational Forest is not very well-known amongst tourists but is popular with locals and school students for outings and camping trips. However, the site is big enough that there is never really a big crowd so you can visit any time, except perhaps on a rainy day.
Activities
At Sekayu Recreational Forest you can do bushwalking, visit the nearby fruit orchard, mini zoo, bird park, and flower garden. You can also have a picnic or camp by the waterfall.
Food
There is no food for sale within the park so you should bring your own.
Nearby Attractions
Have a look at the Memorial Batu Bersurat, where the ancient Islamic inscription was found. It is an icon to the state of Terengganu (25 minutes drive away). You can also visit Lake Kenyir, a beautiful man-made lake about an hour’s drive away.
Stay
You can camp at the park or stay overnight in one of the three chalet huts that are at budget prices. For something more comfortable, you can opt to stay at Kuala Berang with accommodation options from budget to mid-range hotels.
Good to Know
Since the forest could be rather remote, especially after nightfall, try not to visit it alone. You should also bring enough insect repellant and water to last your entire trip.
