Patuxai Victory Monument

Patuxai Victory Monument, officially known as Vientiane’s “Victory Gate,” is one of Laos’ most distinguished landmark dedicated for those who sacrificed themselves in war.

Patuxai Victory Monument, the towering attraction in Vientiane’s central avenue, may look like France’s Arc de Triomphe but with clear Laos details: its exterior features stupa-shaped towers, animist kinnari figures, and Buddhism symbols. Inside, beautiful paintings of gods and goddesses, and elephants make the walls and the ceilings a vision to behold. For a minimal fee, visitors can also climb up the top of the Monument and witness a spectacular view of Vientiene’s temples, buildings, and the iconic Mekong river.

The Monument is open to the public from 08:00 to 16:30 on weekdays, and 08:00 to 17:00 on weekends.
