Spider Web Rice Fields

In the lush mountains of Flores, Indonesia, lies a legendary sight visited by many curious visitors -- uniquely arranged rice fields that resemble a spider’s web.

Viewing Lingko Fields from the ground doesn’t present you with anything extraordinary — typical view of seemingly endless rice paddies set against the towering mountains of Flores isn’t a very impressive view. But that changes once you view it from the top of a house or nearby hills — rice paddies of different sizes resemble a neat, giant spider web. The Spider Web rice fields of Flores is unique in Asia and is believed to be the village’s traditional way of making sure that all the families get a fair share of rice paddies.
