Jatiluwih Rice Terraces

Jitaluwih Rice Terraces, one of the most scenic attractions in Bali, is a UNESCO Heritage Site that features beautifully contoured rice terraces farmers have created during the 9th century.

In Indonesia, the name Jatiluwih means “a beautiful place” and in every aspect, Jatiluwih Rice Terraces has been true to its name — from the quaint, winding road to Jatiluwih to the breathtaking, ancient rice terraces, nothing is ever short of panoramic. Jatiluwih, which looks like a verdant stairway to the heavens, is a beauty beyond Bali’s beaches that shows the ancient farmers’ ingenuity which is evidenced in the communal water system they developed. Visiting the rice terraces means going to an off-beaten path, which also provides a chance for tourists to enjoy the sights and sounds of Jatiluwih uninterrupted.

The rice terraces can be visited anytime but since transportation is scarce around the area, it’s best to visit the sight before dark.

 

Entry Fee and Bookings

To access Jatiluwih Rice Terraces, foreign tourists must pay IDR 40000 (USD 2.95) while locals must pay IDR 15000 (USD 1.11).

  • From Ubud, you can visit Jatiluwih Rice Terraces via rented car or taxi.
  • You can also rent a motorbike which can bring you to Jatiluwih Rice Terraces in 1.5 hours.
