Bali’s Batuan Village is famous for Balinese Artwork or Balinese Paintings – Balinese art in its truest form and free from any outside influences. The artwork and painting style originated in the village in the 1930s and has since been recognized as a major Balinese artistic style currently known as Balinese painting. The paintings usually depict daily life themes, legendary scenes, and even freaky and fantastic creatures.

Batuan Village is located around 7 kilometres north of Denpasar and about 10 kilometres south of Ubud.
