War Museum
Known as the only war museum in the country, Siem Reap’s War Museum is the best place for anyone who wants to get a glimpse of the perils Cambodia went through during the war that lasted for three decades.
Cambodia’s War Museum may be an outdoor museum located in a small area, but it is filled with items from the war: war machines like T-54 tanks, MiG-19 fighter aircrafts, Mil Mi-8 helicopters, field guns and divisional weapons are displayed all over the location. Most tour guides in the museum are either veterans of war, eyewitnesses, or landmine victims so they don’t just share facts about the items on display, they often tell stories which make the tour more personal and real. The unique part of the museum trip is that visitors are actually allowed to handle the small firearms, rifles, and shotguns on display.
