Angkor National Museum

The Angkor National Museum is a great place to get to know Cambodia's culture and its ancient civilization.

At the Angkor National Museum, you can see artifacts dating from the 7th century and learn about the glory of the rich and powerful ancient Khmer kingdom. The museum is a great educational stop before visiting the ruins of Angkor to truly appreciate the history of the site.

 

Location

The museum is a 15-minute drive away from the Siem Reap Airport and is located near the city centre.

 

Opening Days and Hours

From April 1 to September 30, the museum is open from 08:30 to 18:00, while from October 1 to March 31, the museum’s opening hours are slightly extended from 18:00 to 18:30.

 

Entry Fee and Bookings

Entrance fee to the museum costs USD 12 for adults, and USD 6 for children aged 6 to 11 years old and students holding an International Student Identity Card. Anyone younger than 6 years old is free to enter. You will also be charged USD 3 dollars to bring your camera in and another USD 3 for an educational headset. Online booking is possible through the museum’s official website.

 

How to Get There

From the airport, you can grab a taxi to reach the national museum. From the city centre, you can walk or hire a tuk-tuk to get to the museum.

 

Suggested For

The museum is good for couples, families, singles, and groups of friends. If you are interested in civilization, ancient history, Buddhism, artefact preservation, and world heritage then this is the must-go place for you.

 

Time to Spend

3 to 4 hours is enough to explore all eight galleries of the museum.

No food is sold within the museum but you have many food options in the Siem Reap city centre, ranging from upper-end Western food to budget local cuisines.

Never accept any offers of entry tickets other than the ones sold from the museum official counter itself.
