Kampong Phluk

Kampong Phluk is one of the floating villages on Tonle Sap consisting of a majority of Khmer villagers. Passing through mangroves, lush paddy fields, and the beautiful lotus in the tranquil lake is a surreal experience.



Kampong Phluk is located about 16 kilometres southeast of the Siem Reap city centre.

The village is open to visitors any time of the day.


Entry Fee and Bookings

There is no entry fee to Kampong Phluk but most tour operator fees include a small contribution to the  villages, which start from USD 25 per person.


How to Get There

You can take a boat from the Chong Khneas dock to get to the village. You can also take a tuk-tuk or motokep to Domdek or Rolous Village on Route 6 and then hire a boatman to the floating village. The easiest way is to join a tour group as the ease of getting there highly depends on the season and weather conditions during the time of your visit.

Popularity and Best Time to Go

Kampong Phluk is not very popular among visitors as it is located in a more rural area compared to Chong Kneas. But the scenery at the village is spectacular during the wet season.



You can take boat trips on the Tonle Sap, view sunrise or sunset with stilted houses as the background, see the villagers go about their daily lives, enjoy bird watching, crab sightings and a variety of flora and fauna, and see how locals harvest shrimps.



Most tour packages include a lunch at one of the villagers’ houses.You can buy food from the small food boats in the village but options can be limited.


Safety and Fraud

As there are crocodiles in the lake, do refrain from dipping your arms or legs into the water during your boat ride.

You can visit the Rolous Group of temples, which is about a 20-minute drive away.
